Alan El Tagi, M.Ed., BCBA (Executive Director, CEO)

Colin W. Kimpel, CFP (Veritas Financial)
Colin is a partner and founder of Veritas Financial Services firm in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia where they specialize in working with business owners and executives to get them financially organized through comprehensive planning. When he’s not working with clients or with his family, Colin volunteers with 3 non-profit boards. In addition to serving on the board with APTS, Colin is Board Chair of For Love Of Children (FLOC)-a D.C. based organization that provides needs-based after school tutoring and programming for children. He also serves on the board of the Entrepreneur’s Organization, DC Chapter (EODC), an organization that supports entrepreneurship and business owners in the DC area. Colin lives in Bethesda with his wife, Suzanne, and their children.

David Koury, CPA (APTS Director of Finance, (non-member) Treasurer)
David is new to APTS. He oversees the disbursement, reporting, budgeting and overall finance and accounting processes for APTS. David is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Virginia and has been working in the non-profit field for almost 20 years. He is detail oriented, loves efficiency and is a gifted problem solver. David graduated from Virginia Tech where he majored in Accounting and was a four-year letterman in soccer. He is actively involved with his church serving as Board Treasurer. David grew up in Fairfax and attended Robinson Secondary School. He enjoys reading, running and is a big sports fan. David and his wife Melissa currently reside in the Kingstowne section of Alexandria.

Drew Deering, CPA 
Mr. Deering has held accounting and consulting positions with multi-million dollar, international publicly traded and privately held companies in various industries in the greater Metro DC area. He is a seasoned professional whose career has focused on relevant business, accounting and reporting matters including financial statement reporting, consolidations, merger and acquisitions, operational accounting, auditing, and internal controls. He began his career in public accounting providing assurance and attestation services to privately held companies and not-for-profit organizations. Mr. Deering received his B.S. degree in Accounting from Wheeling Jesuit University and is a registered CPA in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He lives in Alexandria with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys sports, music, and the outdoors. In his spare time, you can find him on the soccer field or basketball court as a volunteer coach for his daughters’ teams.

Jim Kuhagen, Ph.D., BCBA-D, LBA   
Jim brings over 30 years of experience as a psychologist/behavior analyst in the field of Developmental Disabilities. He earned a doctoral degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Department of Studies in Behavioral Disabilities) and a Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Pennsylvania State University. He has blended this training by seeking to shape positive behaviors in people with Developmental Disabilities to maximize their life chances in obtaining and maintaining vocational activity. His experience includes work in both multi-disciplinary congregate care, where he served as Director of Psychological Services, and community settings. A former faculty member at George Washington University, he is licensed in Virginia as an Applied Psychologist, Professional Counselor, and Behavior Analyst. He holds the credential of Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D). He has supervised doctoral psychology interns, made numerous presentations at professional association meetings, and contributed book reviews published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Joseph English (Partner of Burdette Smith & Bish LLC (BSB)), a regional accounting firm based in Fairfax, Virginia. The firm specializes in accounting and tax engagement for businesses and individuals. Joe has been with the firm since 1988 and has over 25 years of accounting experience as a Certified Public Accountant, a registered investment advisor, and a personal financial specialist.
