FAQ
Read below for a list of frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s campus, or contact: Graduation@aptsprograms.org

  • Graduates should arrive, with their families, at Garfield HS on the day of graduation between 12:00 and 12:30pm. Commencement Ceremony start time is expected to begin at 1:00pm.
  • We have approximately 20 graduates who will be physically participating in the ceremony and their families. APTS is proud to have 20 total graduates from our program this year!
  • Caps, gowns, and tassels will be purchased by APTS. Your student’s campus will contact you to schedule a time to pick them up.
  • If your student’s campus is holding the graduation garb for the graduate until the day of the event, they will inform you of this change.
  • While APTS staff will do a run through for logistical purposes the day before the event, the graduating students themselves will NOT be participating in any sort of rehearsal prior to the ceremony. Staff will be on site the day of to assist with student needs, transitions, etc. during the event.
  • YES, all graduates will be given the opportunity to (as independently and safely as possible) cross the stage to receive their diplomas and other commencement presentations. If a graduate is unable to cross the stage for any reason (with or without staff support) accommodations will be made for their diploma presentation so that photographs and celebrations can continue in an alternative method suited to the student and family needs.
  • Commencement is expected to last approximately 1 -1.5 hour(s) in length. Accommodations and staff support will be available on site for any graduate who experiences needs in response to wait times, transitions, etc.
  • There is no formal reception to follow the commencement ceremony, however there will be a photo booth located outside the Garfield HS building that graduates, families, and staff are welcome to utilize for a personal photo opportunity.
  • There are NO graduation ceremony tickets. Each family received a formal invitation per household as an announcement of the commencement ceremonies and pertinent information. Enclosed was an RSVP card which they were asked to return to the Central Administration Building alerting the Commencement Planning Committee as to the expected number of attendees for the purpose of a headcount. No tickets were (or will be) required for entry to the commencement celebration. However, families should be advised that seating is limited.
  • Each family received one formal invitation to the commencement ceremonies and celebration per household. All additional graduation announcements, commonly sent to friends and family of the graduate, are the responsibility of the individual graduate/family. APTS does not provide Commencement Announcements for this purpose.
