Self-Care is the Best Care
Self–care is an important activity to do every day. Doing so will lead toward a better balance among your dimensions of wellness and lead toward improved overall health and wellness.
Many of us have so many responsibilities in life that we forget to take care of our personal needs. This is particularly true for many who have significant caregiving responsibilities.
While it’s hard to prioritize YOU when you have so many other items on your to-do list, self–care is an important aspect of stress management.
Here are some ways to make yourself a priority:
- Make a list of the things you like to do that feed your heart, your body, your mind, and your soul.
- Schedule time on your calendar for yourself EVERY day.
- Give up all guilt about taking time for yourself, or for taking time to be with people who boost your energy and your joy.
- Keep a gratitude journal.
- Ask for help when you need it. After all, you aren’t asking for anything you would not be happy to give. Allow others the blessing of giving to you.
- Laugh and learn from your mistakes— another great gift to yourself and others.
