Transition Services
Transitional and prevocational programming at APTS keeps at its core the mission to improve student independence and quality of life. Learners prepare for life beyond our doors, charting their paths for success in both job and life through targeted instruction and generalization of daily living, vocational, and work readiness skills that support our students in their efforts for Competitive Integrated Employment.
APTS utilizes a variety of on-site and off-site experiences to enhance and generalize the skills learned in the classroom including schoolwide simulations, life skill stations, and Community Based Instruction. Each learner’s level of skill mastery and generalization are assessed on a variety of tasks and directed assessments to ensure a scaffolded approach to instruction and successful transition and integration with the community.
Students are provided with the necessary support to ensure that they maximize their potential and use the skills they learn in the world beyond APTS. Our mission is to provide an efficient transition process, engaging stakeholders such as our students, their families, community agencies, potential employers and others supporting postsecondary services.
